I personally like and respect Ms.Bierman and Mr. Ammiano, and if it were
up to them, I'm sure that they would legislate away your eviction and many
others like them. However, the housing crisis in this city has reached
such a Critical Mass (no pun intended) that petitioning them for relief
will do very, very little.

I hope you will consider organizing with your neighbors to halt your
eviction. The Eviction Defense Network has been very sucessful in halting
evictions using Direct Action. This is not the appropriate time to explain
what tatics might be used. It is time that we started leglislating from
below, because from our neighborhoods come our true power.
The political machinery here allows precious little change through the
doors of 401 Van Ness Street, however change can happen on your street,
on your neighborhood, and possibly create a situation in which the
power structure must respond.
