I gather that you are being evicted because the landlord wants to have a
relative of his/hers move in? What is the exact circumstances of your eviction?
My landlord has been evicting friends and neighbors in my building left and right,
like there was no tomorrow. I'm next in line because, currently, I am now paying
the lowest rent.
Several months ago, my landlord tried to raise our rent 20%, from $960/month
to $1,200/month. We brought the case before the Rent Board and he lost.
He subsequently raised our rent the legal limit as set by the Rent Board.
However, we now pay $1,010/month, and he just rented out a unit for
$1,700/month. He will attempt to evict us.
Also, each year we have been collecting the 5% interest from the landlord,
entitled to us from our deposit, as stipulated in the San Francisco Administrative
Code, section 49.
