I've seen your postings on craig's list and I feel for you. My situation:
We were served a certified letter stating that our building is up for
condo renovation and this may or may not result in evictions after the
place is sold, blah blah blah. Anyway, we feel slighted to say the least,
especially as the owners have known this for over a year, and one of the
owners is our neighbor for Christ sake. If given any kind of notice, we might
have been able to actually save up some cash purchase the damn thing.

Anyway, I recommend that one thing you might look into is the Central
Relocation Services agency's reimbursment of moving expenses up to
$1,000. It's a poor substitute for having a place to live, and I'm not
sure if it applies to owner move-ins but if you do end up moving, you
might as well have your landlord pay for your U-Haul and a staff of
burly moving men and anything else you can think of.

Good luck and keep us all posted. I may be facing a similar situation
and would like to keep abreast of what's happening in the 'hood.

Wendy Smith,
future eviction victim

p.s. What is outrageous to me is that an owner move-in requires just
30 days notice, while it takes about 3 months to evict someone for
non-payment of rent! Criminal, just criminal!
