Sorry that I can't offer you a place for rent, but I did want to let you
know that you might want to consider:

1) Making the threat to the landlord that you're going to periodically
check up on the new occupants (the children, supposedly) and suing the
pants off them if they don't occupy the place for the year that is required
by the law

2) If that doesn't work for you, make it your pet project to determine if
the new occupants of your flat are who the landlord says they are -
I believe it's supposed to be a matter of public record. If they aren't the kids,
and don't occupy for the year, I believe you have a case.
