Maybe what you are doing WILL spark a revolution amongst the real owners of
San Francisco. That's the 20ish and 30ish cast-offs from other states and
countries that founded San Francisco, and made it that island haven that we
all have come to take refuge in. I know one thing is for sure, SanFrancisco
is the home of my heart and always will be. Maybe some of us had to or will
have to leave, but we'll be back, because the true residence and owners of SF
have taken it into their hearts and have given it it's soul.
You can walk down the streets of San Francisco and breath in that soul.
And it came not from the people sitting high up in their political offices
letting the streets fall apart or ignoring the demise of the very essence
and spirit of our city due to bad judgements or policies, allowing the very
people who have devoted their life to this city to be forced to leave the
only place they have ever called home (that's me), but from us free
thinking, liberal minded, loving, compassionate, energetic, refuge seeking,
struggling to find a city to call our own people. San Francisco more than
any other city in the United States is the epitome of "Give us your tired,
your downtrodden, your poor" and WE mean it. We are a city that accepts
everyone for who they are, and allow you the freedom to find out who you're not.
Now we are being forced to give it up? I don't think so. Not for long anyway.
If the true soul of the city is forced out, what will become of
"the most beautiful place in the world to live?" It will still be lovely,
but the true beauty will have gone. And that is the saddest thing I have
ever heard.
